Power BI Specialist
Responsibilities:
Dashboard & Report Development:
- Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI based on organizational requirements.
- Customize data visualizations to present complex information clearly to various stakeholders.
Data Modeling & Transformation:
- Create and optimize data models in Power BI for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
- Develop and maintain DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) measures and calculated columns for dynamic reporting needs.
- Work with SQL and other database management tools to prepare and extract data for analysis.
Collaboration & Requirement Gathering:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand data requirements and objectives.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements for effective data visualization.
Data Governance & Best Practices:
- Implement data governance best practices, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Maintain data quality by implementing data validation, cleaning, and updating processes.
Training & Support:
- Provide training and support to users on Power BI features, usage, and best practices.
- Develop user documentation and guidelines for reports and dashboards.
Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor Power BI service performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize report loading times.
- Regularly review and update Power BI applications to meet evolving business requirements.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in Power BI development, data analysis, or business intelligence.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing dashboards and reports for various departments.
Technical Skills:
- Power BI: Proficient in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile.
- Data Modeling: Strong skills in data modeling within Power BI, including DAX, calculated columns, and measures.
- SQL: Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Data Sources: Experience in integrating data from multiple sources (e.g., SQL Server, Azure, Excel, CSV).
- Other Tools: Familiarity with other BI tools and data analysis platforms is a plus (e.g., Tableau, Qlik).
Soft Skills:
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset to interpret data and business requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in creating and maintaining data visualizations.
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate.
- Power BI or other business intelligence/data analysis certifications are a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to stay updated with new Power BI features and industry trends in data analytics.
